flash back 10 years
You better believe it, 2017 is just beneath our doorstep! It was almost a decade ago... back in 2007 when I was a fresh graduate from my degree in LA. Memories came back as I dig through my backups.
I thought this was interesting, its a small art pieces. I got told about this competition one day before the due date and literally it was done in one night! and this is the result... and it won 2nd price to my surprise. That is when I started to understood how important an idea / concept is! Flashback below from 10 years ago.
To the students out there. remember the KISS rule and stay hungry stay foolish :)
Glow in the dark concrete aggregate
Glowing aggregate was used on this feature seating. Initial idea was the seat will be a bright color and after discussing with the team the glowing aggregate was added in detail design phase and opt to keeping the actual concrete color simply bright white. I look forward to see it lit up at night.
Signage intergration
Quick mock up of a signage incorporating into the existing timber deck by employing a folding design language. the sharp lines of the deck created a strong contract with the curvy fence behind which I quite liked.
The mock was done in Rhino basic model with light post production in PS.
Art - Hue
Recent art piece - tile - feather - pixel
Clay model render and collage
I really recommend https://visualizingarchitecture.com/tutorials/ to any designer. Its a really effective use of basic model and photo textures.
I spend a little less than two hours on below image. it feels lose yet explains the design.
PS. fence was pre-modeled in Rihno.
25km long corridor
Winding down with a 12m long roll plot for Saturday morning. Need to hammer out some analysis and get some preliminary design happening. where is my coffee...
MSP OFFICE INTERVIEW
This photo was taken while the office got an interview with an online magazine. It was a small office so everyone has to cramp behind my desk.
